ICQ transport iconset for GAJIM jabber client

I am used to use PSI to communicate through jabber service on my Windows box. On my GNU/Linux machine I like GNOME/Xfce more than KDE so I was looking for a jabber client with similar capabilities to PSI but using GTK libs(and not GAIM). And Nomed showed me Gajim jabber client. This client is comparable with PSI in the features area, and has some things more (like tabbed MUC chats ;) ).

What I did not like on the Gajim were icons for icq buddies. After small detective work to find where these icons are stored and a bit of Inkscaping, I’ve created a set which I like and give here to the world. (Who knows, maybe Gajim developers will like it too and will include it in the next version ;-) ) Here it is:

ICQ transport icons

Of course I do provide also the package with these icons and instructions how to install. To install simply decompress these icons into /usr/share/gajim/data/iconsets/transports/icq/ directory, restart Gajim and enjoy nice new icons ;-)

These icons are released under Creative Commons 2.0 - By GNU GPL v2 licence.

Update: 32×32 and 48×48 icons are ready too now.

Update 2: Relicensed to GNU GPL2.

Thanks Rno :) Yes, I’ve already announced them to developers on their jabber room. Now I am awaiting any response :)

p.s. You can be sure that I will fill your dreams with my graphics ;)

There were some positive and also negative reactions, but I haven’t heard about it since the time I showed these icons to developers. Since that I work on another set for jabber and other transports and will announce it to developers as I have got it done. Maybe they will accept it better as a complete set (with proper licence, they were not lucky of CC-By).

really nice, although the n/a icon should be changed a bit to make it clearer. the text isn’t really perfect, but overall very nice. i hope gajim will use it.

baze: I agree, I am going to change colours of icq transport iconset to the colours that dcraven-reloaded uses, so Away will be orange, NA/XA red etc… I hope that will help to better recognize states of persons in the list :)
